Full Scale named to the Inc. 5000 for the 5th time
Offshore development company

Offshore engineers in the Philippines who join your team and stay

Senior engineers work in your repo, your sprints, and your standups, full-time. Full Scale handles recruiting, payroll, and retention in the background, so the team you build is the team you keep.

Why offshore usually fails

When offshore goes wrong, it's almost always the same reasons

Most offshore teams fall apart because the model is built for short-term contracting, not embedded teams. Here's what goes wrong, and what we do differently in the Philippines.

Why offshore usually fails
Why Full Scale Philippines works

Engineers leave every nine months

There's no team to belong to, so developers churn between projects. The institutional knowledge walks out the door each time.

Multi-year tenures on the same team

Filipino engineers stay on a single client team for years. The AMC Theatres .NET team we staff has been embedded for years and still is.

Twelve hours of time-zone gap

U.S. to India is roughly a half-day apart. Standups become async emails, code reviews stretch to 48 hours, and small decisions take a week.

Scheduled daily overlap with your hours

Our engineers work shifts that overlap your business day. Live standups, real-time code reviews, and decisions in minutes instead of days.

Communication friction from language and culture

Engineers who can write code but can't drive a product conversation are common in offshore, and the friction shows up in every meeting.

English-first, U.S.-aligned working culture

The Philippines is the third-largest English-speaking country in the world. Product conversations work the same way they do with your in-house team.

Project shops deliver and walk

A typical offshore vendor ships a release, invoices, and disappears. The code outlives the engagement and nobody knows it anymore.

Dedicated developers, embedded for the long haul

We staff individual engineers who join your team full-time, push to your repo, and stay through every release. The work never gets handed off to a separate project team.

Pooled resources rotated between clients

Body-shop agencies rotate the same developers across multiple clients, so the person you onboarded in January is gone by March.

One developer, your team, no rotation

Every engineer is dedicated to a single client. Same person in your standups all year. Replacement only happens if you ask for it.

Every Full Scale engagement runs the right-hand column by default. That's why the teams stay.

How serious teams hire developers

Staff augmentation is the hiring model that actually scales engineering

You hire dedicated developers who report up to your engineering leadership, the same as any hire you'd make locally. Full Scale handles recruiting, payroll, benefits, and HR in the Philippines, so the only thing left on your plate is the engineering.

That long-term model is the version of offshore development that works. The code outlives the contract, and the engineers know your system because they have been on the team for years, not weeks. It's the opposite of project outsourcing or short-term contracting.

Why trust Full Scale

I built Full Scale because I lived the hiring problem first

In 2018 I needed to hire ten more developers for Stackify, my second startup. Kansas City hiring wasn't going to get me there, so a friend introduced me to developers in the Philippines and we opened a small office together. By 2021, that team had grown past 20 people and was central to why Stackify exited.

Those developers sat in the same Slack threads as my Kansas City engineers, pushed to the same repo, and ran standups on the same cadence. The agency handled payroll, benefits, and HR in the background so I could focus on the actual work. That was software development staff augmentation, before it had a name on our website.

Friends started asking how to access the same developer pool. Full Scale grew out of that, and we have now run staff augmentation engagements for more than 200 U.S. companies, including the dedicated .NET team behind AMC Theatres. The model that worked for Stackify is the model we run for clients today.

Engineers trained on AI and Product Driven principles

Most offshore engagements stall because the developer placed on your team thinks like a contractor, not a product owner. They wait for tickets, write what they are told, and disappear when the sprint ends without leaving anything behind.

Our engineers are trained to do the opposite. They are hired and developed inside the Product Driven framework, and they use modern AI tooling as part of their daily workflow. That combination is rare, and it is the difference between an engineer who acts like part of your team and one who acts like a vendor's resource.

Pillar 1

Product Driven engineering

Our engineers are trained on the five pillars from Matt's book: Vision, Focus, Clarity, Ownership, and Courage. The result is developers who push back on bad product decisions, ask whether a ticket should exist before writing it, and own the outcome of what ships. They join your team as real engineers, not as order takers waiting for the next ticket.

Read Product Driven, the book
Pillar 2

AI as a thinking partner

Every engineer on our bench works with GitHub Copilot, Claude, and Cursor every day. They use AI to explore options, scaffold the boring parts, generate test suites, and review their own pull requests before a human ever sees them. Judgment stays with the engineer, the grunt work moves to the machine.

AI without product thinking is just a slop machine. We hire engineers who understand what they're building and why, then hand the boring parts to the machine.

Transparent pricing

Senior engineers at $35 per hour, fully loaded

The rate covers the engineer's pay plus recruiting, payroll, benefits, HR, equipment, and office space in the Philippines. There are no recruiting fees and no surprise line items.

A five-person US development team costs about $1.17M in its first year once salaries, benefits, recruiting, and turnover are counted. The same team at Full Scale runs $364,000. That difference is why clients keep their teams for years instead of cutting them at the next budget review.

Where our engineers come from

We invest in the communities our engineers come from

Full Scale exists because of Philippine engineering talent. So every year the whole company takes a paid day to give back to the places we hire from, from donating computers to schools to planting mangroves to funding animal shelters. We call it CSR Day. It isn't charity to us and it isn't a press release. It's the same reason our people stay: we treat the Philippines as somewhere we belong, not somewhere we pull talent out of.
