Corporate social responsibility
Our company runs on Philippine talent. CSR Day is how we give back
Once a year, Full Scale stops working and starts volunteering. Hundreds of employees across the Philippines spend the day serving schools, farms, animal shelters, and the communities they call home. The company plans it, funds it, and counts it as a paid holiday.
Why we do it, and why it is not a press release
Full Scale exists because of Philippine engineering talent. Our clients build their products with developers living in Cebu, Manila, Davao, and the provinces in between. Investing in those communities is not charity to us. It is taking care of the place our company comes from.
Here is the part that surprises people: giving back came full circle. We donated computers to Passerelles Numériques, a scholarship program for underprivileged Filipino youth, and today PN alumni are Full Scale engineers. We built a learning lab at Cebu City National Science High School, and some of its graduates work here now. The communities we invested in produced the people who build our clients' software.
CSR Day itself started in 2021 with donations our employees organized on their own. The company's job ever since has been to fund what the team already wanted to do. Employees propose the projects, lead them, and show up in numbers every year.
We also think this is what offshore development should look like when it is done right. If you want the longer argument, read our take on the ethics of offshoring.

The full-circle proof: scholars from programs we support are now Full Scale engineers.
Four pillars, chosen and led by our employees
Every project belongs to one of four pillars, each led by an employee team that knows the cause firsthand. Together they cover the things our people care about most.

Education
Computers, learning labs, and school supplies for students who have the talent but not the tools. We know this pillar works because our own engineers came from classrooms like these.

Environment
Bamboo and mangrove planting, coastal clean-ups, and solar panel donations. The projects protect watersheds and coastlines in the same provinces our teams live in.

Community
Support for fisherfolk families, relief drives, and homes for children and the elderly. Strong communities raise the next generation of builders, so we help where the need is real.

Animal welfare
Shelter days, feeding programs, donation drives, and one adopted hawk-eagle named C#. Compassion should not stop with people.
How CSR Day works
No outside agency runs this. The projects come from the people who live in these communities, and the company's job is to say yes and write the check.
Employees propose the projects
Teams behind each pillar pitch the projects and budgets, covering everything from donations to meals and transportation for volunteers.
Leadership funds the list
The CEO and COO review the proposals and approve the final slate. The company pays for the projects, not the employees.
Everyone picks a cause
Employees choose the project they want to join. Building a lab, feeding a shelter, planting a watershed. Whatever matters to them.
The whole day is on us
CSR Day counts as a paid company holiday. Employees who live far from a project site organize their own volunteer work at home instead.
CSR Day 2026
One day, seven projects, four regions
On July 3, 2026, hundreds of Full Scale employees ran seven outreach projects across Cebu, Bohol, Manila, and Davao. Remote teammates who could not join a site organized their own volunteer work wherever they live.

Computer donation at Passerelles Numériques
We donated and hand-delivered computers to PN, a nonprofit that trains underprivileged Filipino youth for IT careers. Several PN alumni are Full Scale engineers today.

Learning Lab maintenance at Science High
Volunteers returned to the Full Scale Collaborative Learning Lab we built at Cebu City National Science High School to clean the space and service every donated computer.

Bamboo planting with Jaclupan farmers
Side by side with local farmers, we planted bamboo across a watershed that helps supply Metro Cebu's water. Bamboo stabilizes the soil and cuts erosion for decades.

Shelter day at Island Rescue Organization
We donated pet food and cleaning supplies, scrubbed kennels, cooked meals, and spent the afternoon feeding and playing with hundreds of rescued dogs and cats.

School supplies for fisherfolk families
Volunteers took a boat to Cabilao Island to hand out notebooks, writing materials, and classroom essentials to children of local fishing families before the school year.

Hour of AI with DEVCON Kids
Our volunteers taught hands-on AI workshops to grade 4 to 6 students at Pasig Elementary School, using Google Quick, Draw! and Teachable Machine to show how AI learns.

Renewing our adoption of C# the hawk-eagle
The Davao team renewed our symbolic adoption of C#, a Southern Philippine Hawk-Eagle at the Philippine Eagle Foundation, and donated supplies to Bantay Hayop Davao.
Don't take our word for it, watch the day
We film these days because the energy is hard to describe. Here is what CSR Day actually looks like on the ground.
Mangrove planting in Cebu, with Matt in the mud too

Building the Learning Lab at Science High
We don't do drive-by charity. We keep showing up
One-time donations are easy. The partnerships below run for years, because maintaining a learning lab matters as much as building it, and a shelter needs food every week, not just on CSR Day.
Passerelles Numériques Philippines
IT education for underprivileged youth
PN gives talented Filipino students from poor families a scholarship, housing, and technical training for careers in tech. We have donated computers to the program for years, and PN alumni now work at Full Scale as engineers.
Cebu City National Science High School
The Full Scale Collaborative Learning Lab
We built a computer learning lab for one of Cebu's top public science high schools, and we come back to maintain it so it keeps serving new batches of students. Some of its graduates went on to build careers at Full Scale.
Philippine Eagle Foundation
C#, our adopted Southern Philippine Hawk-Eagle
In 2022 a software company adopted a bird of prey named C#, which felt like destiny. We have renewed the symbolic adoption every year since, supporting the foundation's conservation work in Davao.
Pangan-an Island, Cebu
School facilities for an island community
We have returned to this small island community over multiple years, donating school facilities including a covered court where the whole community gathers.
Island Rescue Organization
Rescued dogs and cats in Cebu
IRO shelters hundreds of abandoned and abused animals. We keep coming back with food, supplies, and volunteers to clean, feed, and give the residents some attention.
The people in these photos build software for 80+ US companies
The same engineers planting bamboo and teaching kids AI are the ones our clients trust with their products. If you want senior developers who act like owners, in the codebase and in their communities, let's talk.
