    CJ: from self-checkout kiosks to a 27-person product team

    CJ is a Product Manager on Full Scale's Philippines team, a decade into a career that started as a software engineer on NCR's retail self-checkout systems. In his own words: what's kept him at Full Scale, and life outside a 27-person delivery team.

    Background

    From engineer to product leader

    CJ graduated in Information Technology from Asian College of Technology in 2015 and spent his first seven years as a hands-on engineer before moving into project and product management, growing the size of the teams he's run at every step.

    NCR Corporation, Engineer to Technical Lead (2015–2022)

    Seven years on NCR's SelfServ Checkout software, eventually leading a 5-person team and traveling internationally at least once a year to support the client on-site.

    Sprobe, Inc., Project Manager (2022–2023)

    Managed teams that grew from 8 to 14 people across four named projects, including a React and Laravel web system coordinated with a Japanese project manager, and a cross-platform React Native mobile app.

    Full Scale, Product Manager (2023–present)

    Now coordinates a 27-person delivery team, translating client requests into development requirements for a ReactJS and Reactive Java web system.
